FREE events coming in June 2019

Please find below upcoming events for the month of June:-

  • Sportfest – Saturday 15th June 2019, Daventry Recreation Ground 11am-4pm

 Daventry District Council is working in partnership with Everyone Active to host Sportfest again this year following on from the great success last year with over 1000 attendees.  It was combined with Cylefest that has now become an annual event to continue the legacy of The Women’s Tour and the Summer of Cycling Programme.  Sportfest has multiple benefits and involves people from all across the community and different age ranges.  It is important to encourage children and families to take up sport and improve their lives for the future.

  • The Daventry & District Forum (DDF) Public Event 2-4pm Daventry Leisure Centre – Wednesday 19th June 2019

Guest speakers from Coventry Building Society regarding scams awareness, Alzheimer’s Society seeking volunteers.  NSport’s Graeme Wilson to speak about potential project older persons regular physical activity sessions.  Promotional stands include Futures Telecare, Happy @ Home, Daventry MIND, The Rural Wellbeing Service, DACT, Healthwatch Northamptonshire, First for Wellbeing, Everyone Active, Daventry’s Guide dogs and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Daventry Veterans Breakfast Club

Following on from the launch of Daventry’s Veterans Breakfast Club on Wednesday 24th April, the next monthly session will be on the 26th June and will run from 9.30am to midday.  This will operate alongside a support group held by the Royal British Legion to offer advice to people currently serving in the armed forces, veterans and their families.

  • Daventry Supports Armed Forces Day – Friday 28th June 2019 12.30pm – 4pm.  The New Street Centre Café, 13 New Street, Daventry, NN11 4BT.

The Daventry and District Forum come together with Daventry District Council, Daventry and District Welfare Foundation, Daventry New Street Café and Daventry’s Royal British Legion to host an afternoon tea event for local residents to support Armed Forces Day.  Daventry Town Council will be showing support by raising the Armed Forces Flag at the revised time of 12 noon by the Twinning Area in Daventry.

The event will bring people together in the community, participation in social community events brings about positivity and provides an opportunity for members to get together, make new friends, enjoy refreshments and benefit from social interaction.  There will also be an opportunity to see representatives from local voluntary and statutory organisations.
